4 Towson Companies Named Among Fastest Growing In America

TOWSON, MD — Four Towson businesses have been named to a list of the fastest-growing companies in the nation. The weekly business magazine Inc. recently released its annual "Inc. 5000" list of the top private revenue generators for 2019, and Towson companies specializing in everything from apps to addiction earned recognition.

To make the Inc. 5000 list, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2015; be privately held, U.S.-based, for-profit and independent as of Dec. 31, 2018; and have minimum revenue of $100,000 in 2015 and $2 million in 2018. They were ranked according to the percentage revenue growth from 2015 to 2018.

The top spot on the Inc. 5000 list this year went to advertising and marketing company Freestar, which is based in Phoenix, Arizona, and grew 36,680 percent in the past three years. Its niche is in online ad sales. Next up was logistics and transportation firm FreightWise in Tennessee, which grew 30,548 percent from 2015 to 2018.

"The companies on this year's Inc. 5000 have followed so many different paths to success," says Inc. editor in chief James Ledbetter. "There's no single course you can follow or investment you can take that will guarantee this kind of spectacular growth. But what they have in common is persistence and seizing opportunities."

Here are the four Towson companies that made the Inc. 5000:

Confidio cracked the top 100, ranking No. 81. The custom pharmacy benefit program brought in $16.3 million in revenue in 2018, and it grew 4,035 percent in the past three years. It's located at 502 Washington Avenue in Towson.

PM Consulting Group, which handles program and project management for government contractors, is ranked No. 1040. It brought in $4.2 million in revenue in 2018 and grew 404 percent in the past three years. It's located at 100 West Road in Towson.

Motifworks was ranked No. 1394. The software company specializes in cloud, app and data development. It made $4.2 million in 2018 and has grown 296 percent in the past three years. While it has offices in Philadelphia, Dallas and Minneapolis, its headquarters is at 222 Courthouse Court in Towson.

Maryland Addiction Recovery Center was ranked No. 2200 on the list. The addiction and mental health treatment center made $6.3 million in 2018, growing 183 percent since 2015. It's located at 8600 LaSalle Road in Towson.
